Fantasy Fashion Becomes Reality

Who loves a great basic?!? I do, I do, especially one I can wear with pretty much everything. Never to disappoint Giuseppe Zanotti's round toe nappa leather pump is a basic worth investing in.  The classic silhouette and moderate heel are a perfect compliment to any outfit.  With a $550 price tag it's a shoe that I would definitely consider purchasing, but deep down I think there may be something better.
Giuseppe Zanotti, $550

Enter Corso Como's Delicious pump! Same classic round toe and moderate heel and I know from experience that they are super comfortable. Regularly $123, but priced currently at $104 these are a steal and a must make purchase!

Merry Metallics

With gold having been a hot trend this fall it makes sense that metallics would carry into the holidays. Sequins, metallic knits, matte, and shiny all put the luxe in luxurious.  Shine on this holiday season.

Silver, bronze, and shades of color are all welcome to this metallic party.  I recommend choosing one bold piece, or muted coordinating pieces, a little shine goes a long way!

Fashion Rx: Your weekly dose of what to wear!

Ok ladies today is the day, Black Friday, the annual shop till you drop post Thanksgiving craze.  What it means is that more likely than not you will be spending most of your day in a dressing room trying on fabulous clothes that you're going to get fabulous deals on.  The most important thing to remember about dressing for today, easy on easy off, it will make your dressing room experience that much less stressful!

The Cure: Simple Shopping Chic

My first suggestion is going to be black leggings, lets not kid ourselves, after a day full of eating our denim may not be that comfortable. Wear a pair with something extra, like a zipper up the back, to give your look edge. Next, go for a ponch sweater, it will save you from carrying a jacket around and keep you warm.  I like this one because it cinches at the waist, layer it over a simple long sleeve white tee, or an embellished one if you think you might lose the poncho later in the day. As for shoes, you might be surprised, but I'm going to suggest a wedge, the heel height is comfortable for all day wear, they slide on and off quickly, and probably give your arches more support than a pair of flats.

Remember while you're shopping today to save some of your energy to shop Small Business Saturday!!!

Fantasy Fashion Becomes Reality

Are you looking for something fun and funky this season? How about the Pasha from 3.1 Phillip Lim.  This pointed toe pump with thin throat will certainly give your ensemble some edge.  The only drawback, I have a really hard time spending a significant sum on a pair that I may only get one season out off, and I think $395 is a bit pricey for this pair.

3.1 Phillip Lim, $395

If you're digging the pointy toe with thin throat Jeffrey Campbell has a similar option, with a heel that I actually prefer to the Phillip Lim.  The Keebler has a very likable wedge heel and at only $134 I would be willing to take a risk on this risque pair.

Jeffrey Campbell, $134

With-it Wilderness

Have you seen snow yet? Maybe you have maybe you haven't but it may be high time to break out the parka.  That big bulky coat does so much for your figure right?  Well it is possible to have a look that keeps you heated and looking hot!

First and foremost this is not a look for the office, there is a reason these pieces are outdoorsy, consider this for running around on the weekends.  If you know it's going to be cold and you'll be spending a great deal of time outdoors, don't be afraid to layer.  If it's a quick jaunt from the car to the boutique, maybe just one rugged accessory will do.   Fairisle and cable-knit are great patterns and texture, but have  the down fall of appearing bulky, make sure to balance with dark solid clothing, skinny jeans and leggings work best.  The best part of this look...the boots, you can't go wrong no matter what you choose!

Fashion Rx: Your weekly dose of what to wear!

With Thanksgiving less than a week away you are probably pondering what to wear to the most festive dinner party of the year. While wanting to dress to impress you also want to be comfortable enough to maybe have that second piece of pie at the end of the night. So what to wear?

The Cure: Thanksgiving Trend-setting

Now normally I would probably suggest a shift dress, something cute and stylish but also flattering for the expectant expanding waistline, but this year I'm thinking of taking a risk. How luxe are these velvet leggings ?!? They are the perfect substitute for the shift. Pair them with an embellished silk blouse and pretty pumps for a flawlessly festive look.

While very popular during summer, wedges are for all seasons! Why should we neglect the height and comfort a wedge provides just because it gets colder? Granted I'm not talking about the great strappy wedge sandals you rocked all last season, but about a new and improved wedge.  Christian Louboutin knows what I'm talking about with the Morphing wedge.  The leather round toe wedge pump with scooped bottom combines basic sophisticated style with the heel that makes feet happy. Aren't you wiling to shell out $695 for a beautiful basic?

Christian Louboutin, $695

If you aren't, you aren't alone, which is why you should check out Corso Como's Lancaster wedge.  This round toe leather pump with scooped wedge makes your feet feel like they are walking on clouds. Oh did I mention the best part...$144, so satisfying in so many ways!

Dip into Dots

Do you dare to don a deluge of dots?!? Wow try saying that 10 times fast! Back on topic, polka dots are coming on strong but whether you choose a lot or a little this is a print that will add some punchiness to your poise.
Black and white and red all over or just a pinch will give your look a little playfulness.  If going with an all over polka dot look my advice is to choose a smaller dot in a traditional black and white, but if you really want to add panache choose an accessory piece to up the ante.  A change purse, gloves, scarf, or the right pair of pumps will highlight this nostalgic print and your personality.

Fashion Rx: Your weekly dose of what to wear!

Tie neck blouses, flared denim, and 70's esque style is quite a sought after style this season, but it's important to make sure you are current. So how do you incorporate the chic, carefree vibe without taking yourself back in time?

The Cure: Trendy to Timeless

I may or may not mention the importance of keeping things modern, but period inspired looks can go just as quickly as they come. Keeping things somewhat modern helps your style outlive the trend timeline.  A pair of dark denim flares will forever be in style as well as flattering for any shape.  As far as the blouse goes, by picking the right kind of pattern and color you can transition this top between work and play, getting more life out of it.  The shapes of these items are seventies inspired but with the right pattern and colors they become timeless.  Your accessories will help you take the look further in whichever direction you choose without having to be a major investment.  The heeled loafer is hot this season, but go a bit more basic and again extend the life of your look.  Jewelry can always be fun and funky!

Fantasy Fashion Becomes Reality

I was watching an old episode of Sex in the City the other night and found myself salivating at all of the shoes that adorned Carrie Bradshaw's feet.  As a Manolo Blahnik buff I'm sure that she would have the Blixa in her closet.  The alligator pump with a pointed toe and open vamp seem like the one of kind styles that would have a special place in her closet.  I wish they could have a special place in mine, but $4600 is quite a pipe dream.
Manolo Blahnik, $4600

Which is why I'm glad that Sam Edelman has a reptile pump that is in my price range.  The "Portney" pump is a mock croc leather with a pointed toe and slender heel is the perfect substitue for the Manolo.  The price is also nice, $114 is a dream come true!

Sophisticate School Girl

If you're looking to strike a balance between conservative, cute, and comfortable for you day to day wear have you considered the charming and coy influences of the chic 50's school girl?

Simple pieces with simple embellishments add just enough allure to make this look attract attention.  A coat with toggles has a somewhat vintage vibe while a skirt with a scalloped hem has a sweet appeal. You can never go wrong with a standard cable knit sweater and cat eye glasses are an enchanting extra.  Modernize your loafer with a wedge and highlight a lady like dress with a patterned lady like pump.

Fashion Rx: Your weekly dose of what to wear!

Are you debating whether or not to move your dresses out of current rotation now that the weather is waning?  Do not, I repeat, do not move those dresses anywhere, there is no reason you can't stretch them into another season.  Whether maxi or mini there is always an outfit to originate!

The Cure: Bring on Boho!

This look takes a printed maxi dress and layers with a faux fur vest while belting underneath to define the waistline.  Simple accessories like a pendant necklace or bangle give it a little bit of sparkle.  Break out the booties to keep your feet feeling fashionable.  If it's too chilly to brave a bare leg you can always add a favorite pair or tights!  Winter, spring, summer, or fall you can always pull off a dress, accessories and all!

Fantasy Fashion Becomes Reality

The platform loafer has become a popular pick this fall, adding a little school girl charm to any look.  Who better to bring you such a chic creation than designer Nicholas Kirkwood.  The leather platform peep-toe with tassels and loafer details at the toe captures the charm of a loafer with a sophisticated edge.  It, however, does not capture the heart of my wallet with it's $995 price.

Nicholas Kirkwood, $995
Nicholas Kirkwood may have a lovely loafer but Restricted has a similar shoe with alluring appeal.  This platform loafer may not have a peep-toe but with similar details and a posh plaid lining you can get all the charm of the Kirkwood design without the cost.  These cuties are just $64!

Restricted, $64
