Fantasy Fashion Becomes Reality

In keeping with seventies staples I stumbled across a pair of Derek Lam flatforms that scream splendor.  The violet eelskin (yes I said eelskin) flatform sandal with strappy instep and elastic halter sling back will look amazing with dark denim fit and flares and a white crochet tunic. Justifiably when trying a new trend it's better to go high end right? NOT when high end means spending $590 on a style that may or may not take off.  I guess I will have to save the violet eelskin for another time.

Derek Lam, $590

That said, I do want to give this trend the trial period it deserves, so instead of violet I'm going  green.   The strappy slingback sandal with contrasting canvas platform will bring just the right pop of color to my serendipitous seventies style.  At $156 I can live comfortably with this new fashion gamble.

Flatform!?!

Spring Shoe Guide
Look #3 The Flatform
If you haven't heard of this new trend yet, get ready, think of the flat form as a wedge/platform/flat hybrid, following yet?  The shoe offers the height of a heel but the comfort of a flat and had been seen on the runways of Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, and Derek Lam.  How do you wear them? Well just like a wedge they will go great with dresses and skirts, but they are also versatile enough to be paired with a fit and flared trouser or high-waisted bell bottom denim reminiscent of the 1970's silhouette.

Fashion Rx: Your weekly dose of what to wear!

While we are still waging war with the dog days of summer, those crisp, cool days of fall are right around the corner.  Imagine yourself out and about running errands on a brisk, blustery day, the wind blowing in your hair, the leaves changing color, that cute guy staring at you while he runs through the park.  Wait, cute guy?  How does your hair look after that gust of wind? What are you wearing?  I've got the perfect get-up for this awesome, autumn afternoon.

The cure: Combining staple fall pieces to create a collective that is flawlessly fall.

Grab your favorite pair of skinny jeans and white cami, layer with a great chunky cardigan and accent the look with a colorful scarf, aviators, and  men's watch.  These cuffed boots from Antelope are the crowning touch.  Feel free to call yourself the Queen of  Casual Couture.

Side effects: Hope you have a good memory, it made be hard to keep track of all the digits you may get wearing this outfit!
