Trending: Spring Booties

It's finally Spring!! Well, that's what the calender says anyway.  It's that time of the year where you aren't really sure whether to put on your tall boots or t-strap sandals. Spring/Summer booties are great to have in your closet for those days that are teetering on the line between warm and cold. Or maybe you have just waited far too long to get a pedicure and are not ready to show off your toes. If any of this sounds like your current self, a good pair of transitional booties is just what you need! Wear them with your summer dresses instead of sandals to give your outfit a whole new vibe. This is a perfect option for festivals and other outdoor events when you want a little more coverage and support, without sacrificing any style. Another look we love for early Spring is booties with jeans. Pair western inspired booties like the Frye boots featured with cuffed boyfriend jeans for a tomboy look.

Perfectly Perforated

Perforations are having a major moment this Spring, from the runways of top designers to local boutiques and family-owned businesses. Designers like Rebecca Taylor and Alexander Wang are showing off this trend in perforated leather ankle booties and punctured paneled tops. This is one of our favorite looks for the season, especially in footwear-- make a more covered style breathable for the warmer months ahead with punctured or laser cut details! Here is our take on perforated style from all your favorite designers here at Poppy & Stella, including Hobo the Original, Jeffrey Campbell, Me Too and more!

Me Too perforated bootie, $164
Jeffrey Campbell lace up bootie, $185
Born mango flats, $90

Whether you like to keep it neutral or prefer a bolder color palate, we can help you find your perfect perforated piece for Spring 2014! Even more styles to come!

Fantasy Fashion Becomes Reality

Everyone should love a suede platform bootie, it's such a hot little basic, and Miu Miu does it right! This striking platform with back zip is the ultimate in sexy sophistication.  It's pairs well with just about anything and kicks your look up a notch.  Being an "ultimate" anything those has it's cost and this one is $750.

Miu Miu, $750

Lucky for us Sam Edelman's "Ria" fits the bill.  This suede platform bootie substitutes a side zip instead of a back zip, but brings all the sass and class with it's 4 1/2" heel and 1" hidden platform.  Best of all at just $124 you can have the ultimate look without the ultimate price.

Sam Edelman, $124

Fantasy Fashion Becomes Reality

Looking to take a walk on the wild side this fall?  You might be adventurous enough to accent your feet with fur with a bootie like these from Herve Leger. Step out in style in these black dyed calf hair and leather stunners, sure to show off your fabulous physique.  So what is calf hair going for these days? Just roughly over one grand, more than enough to put your wallet out to pasture.
Herve Leger, $1,095

So maybe you're not willing to part with so much cash, but still want to consider the calf hair.  Sam Edelman's Wythe bootie has just the shock value that you need.  Polish off your sleek look when you step out these posh wedge booties. Complete with peep-toe, ankle cut-out, and calf hair covered wedge, heads will certainly turn and at just $244 you'll be sitting pretty!

Fantasy Fashion Becomes Reality

This week Sergio Rossi is serving as my muse. With cut-out silhouettes on the rise these are certainly my dream shoe of the week.  "Intricate laser cutting opens the silhouette, flattering the leg with an artisan design and statement height".  Neutral in color to help elongate the leg, the topstitching sophistically showing-off the cut-outs and the open toe helps to balance the zipper back.  Simply divine right?!? Unfortunately it might take some divine intervention to swing the cost of these $890 beauties, sigh.

Sergio Rossi, $890
Lucky for me Sam Edelman has an equally divine cut-out bootie. This caged-wedge bootie has a tie-up front and intricately woven leather for that cut-out look making  it a definite statement shoe.  Again the peep toe balances the the back zipper and the shoe is grounded with a chunky wooden wedge.  At just $209 the price is nice to boot (no pun intended).  I think my feet will be "open" to spring with these.

Sam Edelman "Kellan", $209

The cure: Saturday Step Up

Fantasy Fashion Becomes Reality

Guiseppe Zanotti has a "keen awareness for quality, refined sensibility, and creativity".  This ability keeps his collections fresh and,

"Women from naughty to nice can appreciate such fine craftsmanship, while stepping out in a killer set of heels".
                            -Barneys
These studded ankle boots with a suede tapered toe and crystal studded heels are sure to catch any fashionista's eye. They are a steal at $1360 or rather something you might be tempted to steal with a price tag like that. To be honest, I'm pretty sure there are very few who could pull these off with an orange jumpsuit.

Guiseppe Zanotti, $1360
The real steal comes from Bernardo with their removable studded cuff ankle boot. You're getting two shoes for the price of one and a fraction of the cost of the Zanottis. Wouldn't you rather flaunt these out on the town than from behind bars?!?
Bernardo, $193

Fashion Rx: Your weekly dose of what to wear!

Decided to have a decorating party did you? Invited that cute guy you've been crushing on, right? Hoping to catch him under the mistletoe? I bet you are! Tricky to plan an outfit that is appropriate for the occasion though, on one hand it's a party, on the other, you're decorating, and depending on how many ornaments you plan to put on your tree you could be doing work for a while.  You want to dress to impress, but be laid back at the same time.

The cure: Draped & Slouchy

Anthropologie created this outfit to be relaxed and comfortable but still accent your best assets.  The soft pullover "takes a new twist on the cozy winter warmer", layer it over the plaid button down to give the outfit interest while wearing it with straight-legged denim that hug your curves in all the right places.  Pair the ensemble with a basic suede bootie, like this one from Sam Edelman and accessorize with warm earth tones.

Side effects: You look so warm and inviting that looking in the mirror will make you want to cuddle up with yourself, make sure you wrap your arms around that someone special.

Fashion Rx: Your weekly dose of what to wear!

It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring, you know how the story goes.  It is one of those days where you would rather wear sweatpants and lay in bed all day watching movies, but you know at some point something is going to call you to venture out into the dreary world that presently exists. How can you stay comfortable indoors and still look put together to go out?

The cure: Luscious layers for lounging.
Nothing is more simple or comfortable than a pair of leggings, top them with a tank that has an embellished neckline, but is in a neutral shade, and layer that tank with a patterned top and variant neckline. Cute and comfy for lounging around the house.  When it comes time to go out, throw on a chunky cardigan, some gold bangles and a great pair of shortie boots, like these from Miz Mooz, and you've gone from cute and comfy to pretty, polished, and put together.

Side effect: This outfit is uber-comfortable, be sure when you go out you are awake and alert, wouldn't want you to fall asleep on a date.

Fantasy Fashion Becomes Reality

Once upon a time, in a land far far away, lived a princess with a love for fine footwear.  In this princess's castle was a tower, but not just any tower, this tower was special for it housed the beloved red soles.  The princess had a different pair for everyday, stilettos, platforms, boots, wedges, flats, booties, if you can imagine it, it was in this special closet.  Her father, King Louboutin, made sure his little girl had only the best the world could offer.
Ok, in my perfect world I would be this princess and these would be the shoes I would be wearing today.
Christian Louboutin, $1095
This twisted suede bootie is just pocket change for a princess at $1095.  Alas, I am not a princess and even though Christian Louboutin is still royalty when it comes to footwear design he is not the king of my world.  The good news is, my fairytale can still have a happily ever after!  Me Too has cleverly created these pleated suede booties that nicely emulate the stylings of my "in a perfect world" pair. At just $109 I think I can forgo the red sole and my princess complex, except for the part about Prince Charming.
Me Too, $109
