Black and Blue

How many times have you been warned against wearing black and blue together? Major fashion faux pas right?  Well this year designers from Carolina Herrara to Marc Jacobs decided to challenge that notion.

This is apparently the "it" color combo of the season.  Seen used together in stripes and patterns.  Try color-blocking with the two shades, or create an entirely new work uniform by layering the two together.  Black layered under navy is really a striking combination.

Fall Shoe Trends

With Fall fashion creeping its way into stores and boutiques you will want to keep you eyes peeled for the plethora of shoe trends to follow!  Of course you can always swing by our store and find just what you need!

Color blocking, patterns, and colorful reptile will give you a walk on the wild side kind of look.  The shoe boot, or shootie as I like to call it combines a heel and boot look below the ankle.  T-straps, and ankle straps are making a comeback, as is the menswear trend, which has always been popular but a little bit of a sleeper in years past.  Finally the ever classic pointy toe, one of the best leg lengtheners when combined with a great heel! Find just the right fit for your look!

Fashion Rx: You're weekly dose of what to wear!

We're halfway through June and you know what that means....wedding season is in full force!  You've been invited to so many that you've lost count.  Lucky for you they encompass different circles of friends, which means one killer ensemble should get you through (and allow you to splurge a little).  So what do you choose to wear?

The Cure: Guest List Glam

When choosing wedding guest wear always remember a few simple rules, don't wear white, it's the bride's day and don't wear black (unless the event is black tie), you're not at a funeral. Personally I like a print in a simple silhouette, or something with color and texture. You don't want to stick out, but you don't want to blend in either. Depending on day or night accessorize appropriately and prepare to dance your heart out!

Parisian Chic

It's hard to ignore the timeless je ne sais quoi of the self assured French woman.  Her look is consistently effortless and put together and yet seems so elusive. But, you too, can pull of Parisian Chic with ease.

Based on basic pieces from the perfect jean, the cashmere sweater, the trench, and of course the little black dress, parisians keep it simple. Accessorizing with flats, a black tote, and complimentary jackets the style evolves for each individual while still maintaining its uncomplicated conviction. It's springtime in Paris and who wouldn't want to emulate that?!?

Fantasy Fashion Becomes Reality

Hybrids are all the rage these days, from cars to plants to even shoes!  Take for example Pedro Garcia's suede peep-toe wedge, a combination espadrille and clog with wearability from summer to winter.  Tonal pickstitching splits the upper, the sling back fastens with a hook and loop closure and the cork footbed separated the covered linen wedge for a lighter look.  But as well all know, hybrids tend to be a bit more expensive, the particular pair will run you $440.

If you don't think you can get the miles worthy of $440 out of Pedro Garcia's wedge, the "Lively" by Nicole may do the job for you.  The platform wedge offers a liberal lift and a chic, comfortable look.  The peep-toe and buckle sling back make it great for summer, and the leather makes it an easy transition piece to fall.  At only $142, you're sure to get the most bang for your buck!

Sporty and Spicy

So we've talked about lace, and florals, and uber-girly trends, but what about the girl who wants to break away from her tracksuit, but still maintain a sporty style?  InStyle magazine reports,
"Racing stripes, primary colors, weightless ease.  All the best parts of athletic wear have been crafted into shapes much hipper than any tracksuit jogging down the street.  The comfort level can't be better in these relaxed looks that are just right for spring."

sport

How do you pull it off?
"Take advantage of sporty separates or dresses that offer body-conscious flexibility in fabrics like satin or cashmere that feel a bit luxe.  Use white as your base color, and don't weight yourself down with accessories--aviators or a bright watch are all you need to score. One surefire tip to keep it street-smart: Never wear any of it with sneakers."

Flatform!?!

Spring Shoe Guide
Look #3 The Flatform
If you haven't heard of this new trend yet, get ready, think of the flat form as a wedge/platform/flat hybrid, following yet?  The shoe offers the height of a heel but the comfort of a flat and had been seen on the runways of Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, and Derek Lam.  How do you wear them? Well just like a wedge they will go great with dresses and skirts, but they are also versatile enough to be paired with a fit and flared trouser or high-waisted bell bottom denim reminiscent of the 1970's silhouette.

Fantasy Fashion Becomes Reality

Spring is so close that I can taste it! That being said, it's essential to start my wishlist of staple spring footwear.  First on my list, the Miu Miu patchwork platform wedge! Oh what a wedge can do for ANY springtime ensemble.  Celebrities like Dakota Fanning have been spotted sporting it. This one is especially great with its stitched details and sweet honey hue.  The only thing not so sweet, the $690 price tag.

A great compromise is the Nicole "Abel" wedge sandal.  It has the same great stitching detail and wrap around straps, but is a slingback instead of a t-strap. At just $139 I'm willing to compromise.  If I can save this much money on all of my wish list items, I will be a happy girl this season!
