Fantasy Fashion Becomes Reality

Rich, grained calfskin leather, rounded toe, minimalist chic, all with a 3 inch wedge heel...sounds like the perfect bootie that can easily transition from day to night! Of course I'm describing Lanvin's wedge ankle boot, but the $850 price tag makes them far from perfect.
Lanvin

Lucky for you, I could also be describing the "Lexy" by Corso Como. Sleek and stylish with a round toe and rich coffee hued leather, but with a 4 inch wedge for a little extra lift. What's even luckier is that they are only $142! Now that's what I call perfect!

Fashion Rx: Your weekly dose of what to wear!

Have you ever had a wedding to attend that's not quite in the afternoon, and not quite in the evening, and you're stuck with what to wear?  A sundress isn't formal enough but cocktail attire might be too much. So how do you dress for the occasion?

The Cure: Sheath it Simple

I have one of these weddings this weekend and here is my plan for dressing just right.  Start with a dress in a simple silhouette, a sheath is my go to cut.  Black will always work, but because the wedding starts well before dark consider choosing a bold color, just keep it solid.  A great way to dress up a simple look is to load on accessories, contrast colors, choose statement pieces, and of course choose a standout pair of shoes!  By keeping your base piece simple and adding on your bells and whistles you're sure to look just right!

Fashion Rx: Your weekly dose of what to wear!

Designers resort collections typically hit the stores and fashion mags in the thick of winter. Why? Well who doesn't want to escape the winter blues for sun and sand and of course you're going to want to look great!  You fall in love with pieces that are perfect for a stroll down the beach, but can they work as you strut your way into the office?

The Cure: Urban Vacation

Bring on the brights! Color is characteristic of resort wear, but if you incorporate it with carefully tailored pieces it can be office appropriate. Start with a basic, like a great black trouser, pair with an office appropriate blouse. Polka dots are one trend, and tucked into high-waisted, wide leg trousers you are spot on.  Now it's time to add the fun.  A bright, contrasting blazer takes this ensemble to the next level.  Add resort ready gems and neutral pumps.  If your feeling exceptionally exotic opt for a neutral reptile pump instead.

Up and Coming

So what's trending now in the "resort" fashion collections? Everything's striped! From uniform skinny stripes to a mix and match of skinny and bold, to diagonal, prepare to add it to your closet.
When choosing a strip, don't let yourself fall into the same trap Jessica Simpson did, you remember what I'm talking about, the thick striped, form fitting, tea length dress.  Before I go off on all of the mistakes with that outfit, one of the major things was choosing a stripe that was too bold for her petite frame.  The smaller your stature the smaller your stripe should be.  Are there exceptions, sure if a top has an "accent" stripe, you can totally get away with a bolder stripe, just be sure that your figure isn't swallowed. Accessorize with solids and coordinating hues, and keep things simple, the stripes are stunners on their own.

Fashion Rx: Your weekly dose of what to wear!

We have reached the point of no return, if you're holiday shopping isn't done yet, you only have a few days left, which also means you only have a few days to figure out what you're going to wear.  If your day is anything like mine you are either bebopping from party to party or you're the host of the festivities.  Either way you want to look your best and be able to last throughout the day.

The Cure: Haute Holiday

I hope you trust me when I say you can be cute and comfortable in a dress all day! While I'm not in favor of combining red and green together, I do think red is a great accent for the day! A polka dot dress is fun and festive, top it with a little ladylike cardigan in case you catch a chill. Go all out with your accessories, curling ribbon ring, graduated beads, and red red pumps!

Party Perfection

With so many of falls trends bleeding into the holidays it's hard to misstep when choosing your perfect party dress.  Bold gemstone colors like ruby, emerald, and sapphire, touches of lace, sparkle, shine, and a little bit of blocking are all fool proof choices!
Choose your accessories wisely, choose a daring and desirable pump  to go with a simple dress, or something more subtle to pair with a metallic print. Any festive frock is going to be a winner and you will surely be the toast of the town.

Holiday 101 The LRD

Audrey Hepburn and Givenchy brought us the little black dress, affectionately known as the LBD, this summer we saw a surge in the little white dress, and with the holidays on our doorstep there is no better time to introduce the little red dress!

Perfect for the season, stick to darker shades and tailored silhouettes for day, switch to your bright hues that are short and sweet for night.  Accessorize with metallics and animal prints but let the red make the statement!

Fashion Rx: Your weekly dose of what to wear!

Looking our best when going out seems to be the thing we're most concerned about when we are in a wardrobe conundrum, but what about those moments when we stay in, the moments that could be caught on camera, especially ones where we might have just rolled out of bed? I'm talking about Christmas morning girls, and we deserve to look just as good staying in as we do stepping out.

The Cure: So long long johns, hello loungewear!

There is nothing that says you can't put on a pair of ballet flats instead of slippers, and once you put on real shoes, you'll want to put on real clothes.  Loungewear has come a long way, "sweatpants" are cut closer to the body so they are much more slimming and chic.  Pair them with a simple white tee, a tartan plaid button down for festiveness and and infinity scarf to accessorize.  You are cute, comfy, AND camera ready!

Disclaimer: A great outfit won't necessarily hide bedhead or circles under your eyes, pull your hair back in a messy pony tail and put on a little concealer so you look fresh and well rested!

Fantasy Fashion Becomes Reality

Who loves a great basic?!? I do, I do, especially one I can wear with pretty much everything. Never to disappoint Giuseppe Zanotti's round toe nappa leather pump is a basic worth investing in.  The classic silhouette and moderate heel are a perfect compliment to any outfit.  With a $550 price tag it's a shoe that I would definitely consider purchasing, but deep down I think there may be something better.
Giuseppe Zanotti, $550

Enter Corso Como's Delicious pump! Same classic round toe and moderate heel and I know from experience that they are super comfortable. Regularly $123, but priced currently at $104 these are a steal and a must make purchase!

Fashion Rx: Your weekly dose of what to wear!

Ok ladies today is the day, Black Friday, the annual shop till you drop post Thanksgiving craze.  What it means is that more likely than not you will be spending most of your day in a dressing room trying on fabulous clothes that you're going to get fabulous deals on.  The most important thing to remember about dressing for today, easy on easy off, it will make your dressing room experience that much less stressful!

The Cure: Simple Shopping Chic

My first suggestion is going to be black leggings, lets not kid ourselves, after a day full of eating our denim may not be that comfortable. Wear a pair with something extra, like a zipper up the back, to give your look edge. Next, go for a ponch sweater, it will save you from carrying a jacket around and keep you warm.  I like this one because it cinches at the waist, layer it over a simple long sleeve white tee, or an embellished one if you think you might lose the poncho later in the day. As for shoes, you might be surprised, but I'm going to suggest a wedge, the heel height is comfortable for all day wear, they slide on and off quickly, and probably give your arches more support than a pair of flats.

Remember while you're shopping today to save some of your energy to shop Small Business Saturday!!!

With-it Wilderness

Have you seen snow yet? Maybe you have maybe you haven't but it may be high time to break out the parka.  That big bulky coat does so much for your figure right?  Well it is possible to have a look that keeps you heated and looking hot!

First and foremost this is not a look for the office, there is a reason these pieces are outdoorsy, consider this for running around on the weekends.  If you know it's going to be cold and you'll be spending a great deal of time outdoors, don't be afraid to layer.  If it's a quick jaunt from the car to the boutique, maybe just one rugged accessory will do.   Fairisle and cable-knit are great patterns and texture, but have  the down fall of appearing bulky, make sure to balance with dark solid clothing, skinny jeans and leggings work best.  The best part of this look...the boots, you can't go wrong no matter what you choose!

Fantasy Fashion Becomes Reality

While very popular during summer, wedges are for all seasons! Why should we neglect the height and comfort a wedge provides just because it gets colder? Granted I'm not talking about the great strappy wedge sandals you rocked all last season, but about a new and improved wedge.  Christian Louboutin knows what I'm talking about with the Morphing wedge.  The leather round toe wedge pump with scooped bottom combines basic sophisticated style with the heel that makes feet happy. Aren't you wiling to shell out $695 for a beautiful basic?

Christian Louboutin, $695

If you aren't, you aren't alone, which is why you should check out Corso Como's Lancaster wedge.  This round toe leather pump with scooped wedge makes your feet feel like they are walking on clouds. Oh did I mention the best part...$144, so satisfying in so many ways!

Red Red Wine

InStyle is at it again with their Color Crash Course and this month's honorary hue is Wine.  The "rich and unmistakably luscious, full-bodied fall favorite exudes feminine sophistication.  Why do the editor's love it?
"Even a teetotaler can appreciate the beauty of a velvety Bordeaux.  Translated to your wardrobe , this surprisingly versatile red-tinged purple conveys romance, as seen on Nina Ricci's fall runway.  And for those who fear color, it's a hue that never feels too conspicuous."
From top to bottom and day to night, this a a color that clearly surprises.   If you decide not to go with wine all over pair it with neutrals like dark brown or bark, or play it up with dark inks or teals.  Gold accessories add warmth and an extra taste of luxe.

Lovely Lace

Lace and ladylike are loving fall again this season! Whether it's a little or a lot you can't go wrong incorporating this staple into your wardrobe.  Pair with sequins and go glam or pair with leather and walk on the wild side.

This season it's been given a slight more Victorian feel with higher collars and is present in everything from stockings to skirts and blouses.  It's sexy, feminine, and elegant and a must have for the season.

Fashion Rx: Your weekly dose of what to wear!

It's that time of the year again...FOOTBALL!!! You've got a tailgater coming up this weekend and you want to dress to impress, but you think to yourself...it's a football game.  I've got a cute and casual cure to ensure that you score a touchdown in the style endzone!

The Cure: Football Fashion!
Grab your cropped boyfriend jeans to start, a no muss no fuss pair is perfect for game-day.  Grab a simple fitted tee (possibly represent the color of your favorite team) and dress it up with a great chunky, geographical necklace.  Grab a neutral cardigan in case in gets chilly and a neutral flat to dress it up just a tad.  A cross body bag in a contrasting color is a great way to finish off the look.  You're ready to enjoy the game! Go Team!

Westward Bound

Look #3 in Lucky magazine's guide to fall trends presents the potential of print, specifically tribal print.  Designers like Matthew Williamson, Isabel Marant, and Proenza Schouler have played around with print in their fall collections.  Lucky Magazine recommends the following tips, make the print sexy by wearing it on a formfitting minidress, "elevate cozy, familiar knitwear with skinny white jeans", if wearing fringed boots, play them up by pairing them with the same color pant, balance pattern with minimalist pieces, and "keep the shoes sexy and strappy when wearing printed pants."

Seems like a lot to keep in order, but here are the key pieces you'll need if you want to incorporate this style into your wardrobe:
1. Multi-hued sweater dress
2. Tailored short shorts
3. Print Racer back tank
4. Tapestry print mini
Accessorize with embroidered belts, cross-body bags, fringe and more pattern.
