Fashion Rx: Your weekly dose of what to wear!

So it's Halloween weekend and you've been busy with work, family, school, pick your poison.  Your lack of time has left you lacking a costume for the party you plan on attending. So long as you've been keeping up with the latest and greatest looks you're sure to have a costume already in your closet.   It's time to combine Fall's trends with current pop culture phenomena.

The Cure: This season's lady like fashion + Mad Men = Perfection!

Start with a flirty dress, or a full skirt with an A-line shape, if you choose something with a floral or bold print keep your accessories simple and within the same color family. Get your 60's housewife on with pearls, pearls, pearls! A t-strap mary-jane from Frye is classic and the perfect piece of footwear, cover up with a faux fur jacket and leather gloves, carry a clutch and you have instantly transformed into Betty Draper.  The best part...all of these pieces on their own are timeless and on-trend.

Bonus: Your date can just as easily pull of Don Draper's look!

Fantasy Fashion Becomes Reality

Well YSL you've managed to do it again, steal my heart that is.  Your Imperiale Platform Pumps are everything a shoe worshiping girl could dream up and more, the pebbled suede, the voluptuous curve of the sole, the racy spike heel and a ridiculous price to boot.  Celebrities love you too, Kristen Stewart, Lily Allen, Kate Beckinsale, Lady Gaga, how do you manage to do it time and time again?!?
Yves Saint Laurent, $795

You might as well stomp my heart to little bits as a $795 splurge would give me a heart-attack anyway. How to salvage my love for this shoe without sacrificing my piggy bank?  Dolce Vita to the rescue!  Their "Haywood" design cleverly mirrors your curvaceous appeal and falls within the realm of reasonable spending.  At $152 my heart skips a beat!
Dolce Vita, $152

Mother Nature's Casting Call

With Fall in full swing you are surrounded by a bounty of heavenly hues, so why not take a cue from Mother Nature and let her direct the color palette of your accessories? Deep rich shades of red, browns, honeys, greens and burnt oranges paint the leaves outside your window, let these same shades create a masterpiece for your wardrobe.

Blend these tones with touch worthy materials like suedes and skins and you're sure to have a priceless production that pays homage to Autumn's artful act.

Fashion Rx: Your weekly dose of what to wear!

This weekend your off to do some wine tasting with the girls. There's nothing like sharing delicious gossip with good friends and good spirits! You want to look nice, but not be overly dressy and you don't want to tip the scales too far into the casual range either.

The cure: Harmony from head to toe.
Keep the balance by using different fabrics, accessories, and cuts.  Take a nice pair of denim, like these JBrand Love Storys, with a wider leg and snug fit around the hips and top it with printed blouse. The billowiness of the blouse balances the fit of the denim and also helps to dress it up just a bit.  Wear a scarf around your neck, cute stud earrings, and some embellished but low heeled pumps.  Notice the shoes balance themselves, these Jeffrey Campbells have a lower heel, and a distressed look, but are accented with cute buckles on the toe.  The scarf and the earrings cancel each other out. Pull it all together with a peacoat in case it gets chilly, it's a great go-to coat for any occasion.

Side effect: A balanced ensemble does not mean all over equilibrium, make sure you balance what you drink to keep everything in check.

Fantasy Fashion Becomes Reality

I am a sucker for platforms and peep-toes and it looks like I'm in good company when it comes to my adoration for these platform peep-toe sling-backs from Sergio Rossi.
I, however, am not a sucker for a ridiculous price when I can get the same look for less.  The $695 suede pumps are gorge but this is not the time to be a label whore when Sam Edelman has a look-a-like for only $97.  That leaves me almost $600 to buy even more shoes! This is a no-brainer, I mean really, can you tell the difference the two?

Biker Chick Chic

Tough and tumble, rough and rumble, women today are showing a slightly less softer side to their style. Playing around with chains, zippers, studs, and buckles definitely amps up the level of badass, but doesn't necessarily decrease the level of femininity.
Soft draping, a splash of glitz, and luscious leathers help balance the scales between "rebel without a cause" and "little goody too shoes".  Let nice mingle with naughty and pair skinny jeans with a biker jacket and simple white tee, soften the look with a simple flat or exaggerate the edge with a sky high suede bootie.  Either way you are going to be one bodacious babe!

Tis the season for everything pumpkin, pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin scented candles, pumpkin carving, etc.  You've got a hayride date to pick pumpkins from the pumpkin patch,  a day spent outdoors, riding on a wagon filled with itchy bales of hay, traipsing through the patch to find the perfect pumpkin to adorn your front doorstep.  What you need is not only an outfit that is fashionable and embraces the Fall spirit, but something functional as well!

The cure: Cozy Cuteness!

Plaid is purely Fall and believe it or not it is adorable when done right! Something like this plaid tunic from  Free People over faded gray denim leggings, and topped with a lightweight utility jacket is just the right fit for a day frolicking in the fields.  Accessorize with a leather studded wrap bracelet and chain link necklace then let your Fryes add the finishing touch on a flawlessly fulfilling Fall day.

Fantasy Fashion Becomes Reality

Well there is no denying it, clogs are one of the biggest trends for fall.  Everyone from Chanel to Prada are making them and celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker and Kate Beckinsale are wearing them. What I wouldn't give to be BFFs with SJP just so I could have access to her closet, *sigh*. While I am all about keeping up with celebrity fashion trends, I'm sad to admit that I can't keep up with their price tags.

Prada, $595

Chanel, $945
They are beautiful with their fine crafted leather, chunky wooden platforms, and gold military studs, but way out of my budget.  Thanks to Jeffrey Campbell I can get the same look with a completely different price tag!  Leather, check, chunky wooden platform, check, military studs, check, convertible strap, BONUS, and the price is very nice!  The Jeffrey Campbell "Charli" is only $119. Dare I say, eat your heart out Chanel?!?

That 70's Style

"Come and knock on our door, we've been waiting for you", and we're primed to prep you for this fall's 1970's invasion.  The 1970's has influenced dressing this fall.  Luxe silk bow blouses and high-waisted wide-leg trousers graced runways from Chloe to Gucci in hopes of bringing out a more sensual side of power fashion while bell-bottoms, faux fur, oversized glasses, and the ever popular clog channeled the more laid-back vibe we love. Add just one of these easy to wear pieces to your wardrobe and you can take a tiny step back in time all the while staying current.

Fashion Rx: Your weekly dose of what to wear!

It's Girls Night Out and you just found out that your BFF wants to borrow the playful and flirtatious number you had planned on wearing tonight, you know the silk tank and feather embellished mini with platform stilettos. Seeing as how you're such a good friend, you lend her the outfit but are now stuck with nothing to wear.

The Cure: K.I.S.S. IT

Keep It Simple and Stylish!  Grab your favorite pair of skinny jeans or jeggings, the ones that hug your curves in all the right places and a jewel toned top.  Liven up the look with gold bangles and a long pendant necklace.  Complete it with a clutch and sexy black booties, like these Me Toos, and now you've got a look that is even better than the first.

Side effects: Watch out for your BFF, she may be jealous that you're now getting all the attention she thought she'd already stolen from you by stealing your original outfit.

Fantasy Fashion Becomes Reality

Rachel Zoe once said, "ba-na-nas" and these shoes from Chloe are the epitome of her exclamation.  She highlighted this particular pair of wedges in her Zoe Report from last week stating,

"Seeing that elevation is the first characteristic I notice in my own footwear—closely followed by material and comfort level—it is no wonder that I have appointed Chloé's Enola Two Toned Wedges as my shoes du jour!
While I don't necessarily like to play favorites when it comes to accessories—these wedges will definitely be glued to my feet throughout the fall and winter season. Between their knock-you-off-your-feet (literally) structure, luxe python detailing and convenient ankle strap, they define the meaning of ba-na-nas".

She continues to report that while these shoes are sure to be the center of attention it's best to pair them with simpler pieces like a sweater dress and opaque tights. All of this sounds fabulous except that her beloved "shoes du jour" are $1095.

Her suggestion for a more realistic approach?  Our very own Jeffrey Campbell Amaeke Suede Wedges! At only $115, these wedges give us the height, drama, and dual tones coveted by Rachel Zoe in the Chloe wedge.  Sounds like a winning combination to me!
